Leeupoort Holiday Village / Leeupoort Vakansie Dorp
Leeupoort Holiday Village is situated in the Nothern part of South Africa in a region called the Limpopo Province (The old Nothern Transvaal). The Limpopo Province is linked to the North Western Province by way of a secondary tarred road between a small place called Koedoeskop and Bela-Bela, previously known as Warm Baths because of its well known mineral water resources and large warm water pool with it's many fountains. Leeupoort Holiday Village lies about 72 Kms from Bela-Bela, further down the same road as Mabalingwe, 56 Kms from the town of Thabazimbe, 108 Kms from Brits and approximatly 165 Kms from Pretoria.

GPS Landmark Data: Latitude 24.9266°S, Longitude 27.6422°E, Altitude 1055.5 m

The climate is hot in summer with ample rain from around September to April. Leeupoort also experiences a fantastic mild climate throughout the year, even during the dry winter seasons.
Leeupoort is also well known for its lush vegetation which is typical bushveld and also provides for ample grazing for a variety of antelope like giraffe, blue wildebeest, eland, koedoes, njala, impala, warthog and zebra and also makes it a bird lover's paradise.
Animals roam freely inside the game fenced property and between houses.
One of the objectives is to have a eco-town with no animals, birds or plants disturbed and with no tarred roads or street lights in the game reserve. For some owners letting out their property to holiday makers it thus also mean Leeupoort strives to provide some sort of eco tourism.
A primary reason for people to settle in Leeupoort is because of their love for nature. Leeupoort is one of the satellite towns of Thabazimbi which also provides the municipal services. It has a reservoir with it's own water supply for household as well as garden needs coming from two immensely strong boreholes. There's about 900 properties laid out inside the Leeupoort Holiday Vilage game reserve of which around 500 have houses built on them. Around 200 are inhabited permanently and the rest are mainly holiday cottages.
The game reserve occupies a farm of about 1000 hectares. Leeupoort Holiday Village is serviced by one entrance manned by security guards 24 hours a day for better access control. The whole game farm is fenced with special game fencing all round with plans to install an electrical fence as well.
Facilities at Leeupoort include a Bed and breakfast guesthouse / lodge, Self Catering houses, Cafe / general dealer, Caravan (Trailer) Park, Swimming pools, Liquor store and a Library. A doctor visits Leeupoort once a week. All other shops and facilities are available in Thabazimbi or Bela Bela (Warmbaths).
The name Leeupoort is an Afrikaans name and if directly translated into English means "Lionsgate".
